VISIT THE SLOAN MUSEUM

Now, through May 26th for Sesame Street Presents: The Body. This exhibit is made possible by: Genesee District Dental Society, Health Plus of Michigan, Kohls Cares for Healthy Kids, and Mott Community College.

 
FLOWER DAZE

The Flint Farmers’ Market continues Flower Daze on Saturday, May 25th and is sponsored by Bishop International Airport on the two Saturdays in May between Mother’s Day and Memorial Day. Dozens of flower vendors join the market’s regular vendors to help kick off the summer season with a rainbow of colors, demonstrations, and information on every aspect of living green.

 
JUNE IS GAY PRIDE MONTH

The third annual Gay Pride Festival held in downtown Flint, Pride In the Park, will be Saturday, June 29th from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. along Riverbank Park and U of M-Flint Pavillion. This day provides a day of education, information, entertainment, enrichment, and support for citizens that identify on the LGBT spectrum and a way to show support for Straight Allies. If you would like a vendor booth, costs range from free to $75. The contact number is 810-232-0888 (Flint Gay Pride Society).

 
FLINT RECYCLES

If you live in the city of Flint, contact Keep Genesee County Beautiful (at the north end of our building) to get a recycling bin that will be picked up every two weeks at your house. If you are in an area that doesn’t have recycling, there are lists on the literature table of many locations that take specific items.

 
HOSPICE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Avalon Hospice is proud to be serving Genesee, Livingston, Oakland, Saginaw, Shiawassee, Tuscola and Lapeer Counties. Avalon Hospice relies on the continuing support of dedicated, trained volunteers to help provide for the needs of our patients and their loved ones. Let your light shine! Ways to help: sit with a patient, holding a hand, listening to fond memories, reading, or playing a game or by just “being there”. Be prepared to gain much personally. Your life will be enriched!
