Deb has led Woodside's growth and renewal since 2014. Originally from South Carolina, she came to Michigan by way of Washington, DC, Austin and Louisville. She has degrees in journalism, graphic design/photography and divinity. Her doctorate is in education, with additional study in ministry supervision, organizational leadership, family and congregational systems, and conflict mediation.

Married to Hannah, Deb shares a growing family of rescue dogs and cats. She enjoys preaching, antiquing and cycling, and is renovating her kitchen on a 10-year plan.

hunter melton, administrative assistant

A native of the area, Hunter grew up in Burton, attended school in Grand Blanc, and has worked in the offices of the Flint Public Library, West Flint Church of the Nazarene, and Grand Blanc Community Schools.

He was a youth leader, tenor, and deacon at First Presbyterian Church for many years and served as Secretary of the Gerholz Counseling Center Board. He worked ("all too briefly" he says) in Yosemite National Park, but he is glad to be back home in the temperate state of Michigan.

Hunter is a film buff and an avid reader.

Tom Travis, Music Leader

Tom has been music leader at Woodside since 2016. He is a native of Flint, with a degree in music from UM Flint. After completing a graduate degree in theology, Tom worked in various churches in Michigan and Ohio, plus Kansas City, Quebec and Nova Scotia.

Tom’s musical interests range from Bruno Mars to Rachmaninoff, choral music to Appalachian folk. (He has non-music interests, too). Tom has three hilarious kids (Joel, Madeline and Christian) who live too far away but he loves them to pieces. You may find Tom to be quiet but he is secretly an extrovert and the best way to discover this is to try new food with him!

lazarre johnson.png

Referred to us by our friends at Christ the King, Lazarre has become an important cog in our church wheel. He takes care of our of building needs, but also is host for many of our community groups, and a helpful liaison to our landlords. Lazarre has a degree in production management from Mott College. He enjoys jazz and classical music, and cooking all kinds of food.

melissa boskee, teacher

Missy loves kids! She holds a Bachelor's degree and specialty in early children education, and brings 20 years experience with children ages 6 weeks to 13 years. Besides giving Woodside parents the comfort of knowing our littlest ones are in great hands, Missy works full time with Early Head Start infant and toddler program. Her spare time is with family and friends, including two nieces she adores.

We appreciate Jerry's careful management of all things financial. When he isn't doing books, we understand he plays a mean late-night guitar.
